The following entries
are in reverse order, from the present down to where we began our travels.
San Antonio,
TX
Today, 12/26/03, we have been travelling exactly one
year from our start in St. Charles!! We are back in San Antonio for a visit with our good friends Maryel Isham and RogerAllen.
We were going to stay just a week, but extended our stay to three weeks when Peg started having trouble with headaches - herniated
disks - so she is going to a chiropractor every couple of days. We had a visit from Peg's cousin Rodney Jones and his
wife Kathy, looked through albums and pictures and went to lunch. Had a great time visiting! We went to the Unity
Church and then Tuesday went to A Course in Miracles group. We returned to the Riverwalk for Pegs birthday, eating dinner
right on the river and had the mariachis sing to her. It was a good evening! We helped Maryel get ready for Christmas and then enjoyed the evening before Christmas
with Roger and his family and went to Austin to spend Christmas day with Maryel's family (who are a big part of Pegs extended
family). It has been a busy couple of days, with lots of food and fellowship.
League City,
TX (Galveston)
12/11
Moved south of Houston to get a new compartment door installed on the RV and to see the Space Center and visit Galveston.
Had a good visit with Pegs cousins Donna & Jerry Paramore while waiting for the part to be installed. Weather has turned
cold and were hoping that now well finally be rid of the Ladybugs! They seem to procreate madly in warm weather. We also enjoyed
seeing the Clear Lake Christmas Parade of boats all decorated for the holidays with lots of lights and Santas, seems a lot
of NASA engineers enjoy outdoing each other each year and they even have prizes!
Houston, TX
11/12 In
Houston for a month so that Peg and Bob Stecker can work on their Enriching Elder Project. They did a workshop for the Gerontology
Certificate Program at the University of Houston and got excellent reviews. Guess their 30 years of working together really
shows. I got the RV washed by a professional and then put protectant and mineral
oil on it. It really looks good. Washed
the truck and did all kinds of items. We spent Thanksgiving with Kevin, Janeen
and Zach and enjoyed a trip to Janeens Fathers ranch the next day. Went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and saw the
Pearl Exhibit, a very interesting and beautiful exhibit; I went to Dothan, AL to see my Stepmother for a few days and while
I was there Keith Shipman, the husband of Pegs great-niece, Kim, passed away of a heart attack in Troy, AL. Peg flew up to Atlanta and rode down to Troy with Kims sister, Barbie and her family. I drove up from Dothan
and we went to the visitation and funeral and visited with the family. Karen flew in from St. Louis and it was good to see
her even under sad circumstances. Stayed for a couple of days, then Peg and I left for Houston. We stopped in Covington, LA to see Danny, my nephew. He was
at work, so just spent a few minutes with him, but really enjoyed him! Then we
called our friends, Frank and Jane Johnson, in Baton Rouge, and they insisted we stay with them and go out and eat and spend
the night there. Enjoyed the evening and left the next day for Houston. Made a stop in Lake Charles and took Owen out to eat lunch at Hacketts Cajun Kitchen.
He and Charlie had a good time swapping stories.
Denton, TX
11/8 Stayed in Corps of
Engineers park again, visited with Steve and family, James and family. Peg is
passing along various heirlooms that we kept from our house and from her mother and others as Christmas presents, doling them
out a few at a time each Christmas as we go through the area. She separated some
out while we were at Karens and gave them their Christmas and now has done the same with James and Steve, along with other
gifts we have picked up in our travels. Visited with Sherry and Dawson and Jean
while there. Chris (grandson) is going into the Air Force and Holly (granddaughter)
is graduating from high school. Went to the Cathedral of Light and to the Course
in Miracles meeting on Monday. Didnt stay but a few days.
Potosi, MO
10/13 Stayed in Potosi
for 3 weeks at Trout Lodge YMCA Campground volunteering. This is a beautiful
facility with just about every imaginable activity for young and old. They have
Elderhostel meetings here as well as family and corporate meetings. We worked
20 hours per week and got our RV parking and our food in return. Lots of ladybugs
all over the place, driving everyone nuts. The people here are very friendly
and appreciate our work. We did all sorts of stuff, from painting to office work. The RV park was under development we couldnt get our RV up into the parking space
because we dont have a four-wheel drive on the truck, so we stayed down in the road we were the only ones there at the time. Later on Paul and Anita Henehan came in to volunteer, also. Pauls nephew is the manager of the lodge. We went in to see
Dr. Lang and she sold us on buying a small trampoline. It turns out that the
trampoline gives excellent exercise per bounce. We went to the chiropractor a
couple of times and to the dentist stayed with Karen and Bryan for a few days while we got all that done. Also went on the pontoon boat with Paul and Betty, Linda and Perry on Lake St. Louis. The truck developed an oil leak while we were there, but it turned out to be a real simple problem. My leg is still bothering me a lot will have to see a doctor when we get to Dallas
probably.
Wakarusa, IN
10/11 Stayed in the Holiday Rambler park to get a big list of repairs done on the RV.
Detroit, MI
10/9 Stayed at Wayne County
Fairgrounds. Took a class in Advanced Reiki Training in the local Reiki Institute
under William Rand. Great bunch of people attending. Lots of good information to deepen our Reiki knowledge and skills.
Windsor, NY
10/3 Cold and wet day coming over to Windsor from Central Bridge. Got
caught in a parade going through Windsor we were at the end and it was fun watching everyone picking up all the candy that
had been thrown then looking up and trying to figure out how that RV got in the parade!
Staying in the Lakeside RV Park way out in the boonies between Windsor and Binghamton, NY. In order to get from here to Binghamton, we go through Pennsylvania.
Sun came out in the afternoon and warmed up a little, with the rain stopping.
Having to stay an extra night here as the brakes didnt get delivered on time. They assure us the parts will be here
on Tuesday.
Central Bridge, NY
10/1 Staying at Locust Park RV park for 2 nights. Just took a short trip along the edge of the Adirondack Mountains to see the Fall colors. Went to Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame and saw all the memorabilia and Hall of Fame plaques. Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth have rooms to house their stuff. Lots
of pictures and uniforms, bats and gloves. Enjoyed it. I took a lot of video in there. Otherwise, taking it easy
watching the baseball playoffs. Go Cubbies!! We have an appointment in Binghamton,
NY, for getting exhaust brakes installed on the truck so that our braking is more reliable, especially in an emergency. The fall colors are getting better and brighter all the time. It was close to freezing last night!
Rhinebeck, NY
9/22
We made a quick trip from New Hampshire through Connecticut and Massachusetts to the Interlake RV Park outside of Rhinebeck,
NY. This is just a short way from the Omega Institute which is so well known
for its classes. We had signed up for a class in removing blockages to discover
our Divine purpose. It took place over Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday morning. It was taught by Dianne LeBlanc and was very interesting. The Ram Dass Library on
the Omega campus was a real treat and Peg found some good resources for the Enriching Elder Project she and Bob Stecker are
working on. It rained a lot and was sort of cool most of the time. The park has
lots of trees. We bent our stabilizer again have to get that fixed. I made a turn that must have scraped it on the ground. Maybe
we can get it moved further forward to avoid this happening again. We have quite
a list of repairs to be made in Wakarusa, IN at the Holiday Rambler plant. Have
an appointment there for 10/13. My birthday took place while we were here. Happy Birthday to me! We went to dinner
at a very nice restaurant. It is very old, dating way back to the early history
of our country, especially during the Revolutionary War. Geo. Washington and
other famous personalities slept there. Peg gave a nice T-shirt with a picture
of a moose on the front. I got a CD writer so that we can put the pictures on
a CD and got a compressor for filling the tires properly.
The people here in New England are nice, but very penurious (cheap). They charge for everything thats not tied down, for example, 25 cents for a 5 minute shower, $2 per day
for using your air cond or elec. Heater, the brownie for my birthday cake. The
only break that we got during the most of our stay was having our refrigerator looked at in a RV repair shop. That was free I expected to get charged for that, given the history of the section. Im not cheap, and the people down South never charge for such stuff!!
We attended a Lumberjack Contest Sunday afternoon. You might say that we are having a great vacation!!!!!!!!!!
Then we went to see a movie Saturday afternoon.
They show movies only in the evening during the week with one show in the afternoon on Saturday and then one in the
evening. We saw Second Hand Lions and it was good. We shopped in the mall and Peg picked up some Christmas presents in the craft store before going to the
road.
Gorham, NH
9/13 We stayed in Bangor
for only a couple of days, then we caravanned with Paul and Anita through the foothills of the White Mountains westward into
New Hampshire. Didnt have any idea what we would find to do there when we left. It turns out there is quite a lot to see. The
first night we were here the four of us played Wizards and I won my first Wizard game.
Wizards is a great card game that we learned at the 400 full-timers club. It
is fun and frustrating at the same time.
Pegs (Peglegs) leg is
doing much better. Anita has been doing Reiki on her the last three days and
she has been sleeping with a castor oil pack on her hip and knee. My leg and
knee are much improved. I can walk without much difficulty for short periods
of time and have little or no pain most of the day as long as I dont exercise too much.
Peg and I have been doing lymph exercises every other day for quite a while to help and I took a good walk this a.m.
for the first time. We found a really good chiropractor here and both got adjustments
which have also helped tremendously.
It is so beautiful here
in the White Mountains. We watched a video last night to introduce us to the
area. We are in a wooded campground with the leaves starting to turn. Outside my window right now I can see leaves of a beautiful dark rose on the branch. All along the way here we could catch patches of color along the road.
We might spend more time here than what we allotted.
We called and made an
appointment at Wakarusa with the Holiday Rambler people there for Oct. 13 to get a bunch of nit-pickin stuff done on the rig
before the warranty runs out. We have a laundry list of about 20 items to be
repaired, so we are altering our plans somewhat. Also, Hurricane Isabel is threatening
to head this way and it is a big one, so we have to keep our eyes on that and stay out of its way.
Took
a loop through the fall colors country north of Gorham. Turns out that this is
one of the better spots for fall colors! The colors are spectacular, even now. Going through the countryside, you come upon trees in their full fall leaves bright
orange, red, and yellow amongst all the green trees around them. Went to The
Balsams, a very big lodge nestled in the mountains, ate at the golf course restaurant.
This lodge is where Dixville Notch casts its presidential ballots the first in the country. We visited the ballot room where this takes place.
We had heard about the extremely scenic hwy called the Kancamagus Road and
we werent disappointed. It was beautiful, with a rapid flow of white water in
the river sometimes to the right and other times to the left. Rapids and falls
abounded with huge boulders and scenic mountain ranges reaching for miles. We
stopped at many of the scenic overlooks and took pictures (of course). Also,
a minor miracle just occurred. Peg found our video camera hidden in the closet
I thought we had sold it in the garage sale and I was considering buying another one for my birthday! Got back late (7 pm) last night and had a large salad.
On the way back we went to the spot that the campground people told us to go
to see moose. We saw several moose. They
just stood there and let us take their picture. There were several cars there
watching the moose and taking pictures.
The next day we spent most of the day on the Crawford Notch Scenic Railroad
tour. It was relaxing and there were some good views, but the trees had grown
up so much around the railroad tracks that mostly all we saw were trees.
That night, we relaxed
around a fire and ate a few Smores. We have decided to stay here for the remainder
of the week to witness the fall colors in their full grandeur. It looks like
Isabel will not come up this way unless it surprises the forecasters greatly..
We
went on the Auto Tour of Mt. Washington, the tallest peak on the eastern seaboard (6288).
Couldnt take the dually up there, so went on the guided tour.
Bangor, Maine
9/11 From Bar Harbor to Bangor was a very short trip 45 miles. Paul and Anita Henehan were there waiting for us. They had
been through Canada and over to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. We had hoped to
catch up with them and were very happy to see them and to spend time together. The
trip, to get back to that, was made much longer due to the fact that I had left my credit card at a restaurant in Bar Harbor
and discovered that when I tried to get some fuel. I had to make the trip back
and then back to Bangor. The four of us went to dinner and visited, catching
up on what was going on. We, however, didnt do much of anything in Bangor because
there wasnt anything much in the tourist way that we could find to do. Paul and
Anita recommended a massage therapist nearby and Peg and I went to have side-by-side massages for an hour. Tried to go to a chiropractor but that didnt work out. The massage and Anitas Reiki treatment on Peg has
really helped her to relieve the pain. Were thinking now she may also have a pulled muscle as well as the tendonitis.
I had a great lobster dinner couldnt leave New England without that. Going to Bangor tomorrow. We think that, so far, Maine is
our favorite place of our travels.
Can you believe they name
these whales? It was really cold on the trip outside the cabin area fortunately we had gloves and caps with us.
We went to the top of Cadillac Mountain and here is our picture there to prove
it. Peg is wearing her new jacket a bargain she got at the LLBean factory store.
On the 9th we went to an early whale watching cruise on a very large
catamaran the Friendship V. Went out 35 miles to look.
Can you believe they name these whales? It was really cold on the trip outside
the cabin area fortunately we had gloves and caps with us.
Bar Harbor, Maine
9/8/03 Now I am covered by Medicare! (Sigh- Im much too young!) Got to Bar Harbor around noon, got settled in and went to the Acadia National Park Visitors Center here. This park is great! It covers most of
the area of Mt. Desert Island and other islands as well. There are mountains
the highest Cadillac Mountain is 1530 feet tall. The park is composed of plots
of land purchased by individuals and donated to the nation. They were later turned
into a national park. The shoreline is rugged, the sky is a beautiful blue, and
the water is a dark blue. We went on a carriage ride on a special carriage trail
that goes around the island a sunset ride. It was a very nice ride with lots
of great views. Even saw a deer who came out with her fawn to pose for us.
Spent one afternoon sitting on the rocks and listening to the SILENCE! We were
high enough that we couldnt here the waves so could just sit and enjoy the beautiful view.
Eastport, Maine
8/29/03. We moved to Eastport
the easternmost city in the contiguous United States - after a week in Millinocket.
We are now on the coast after a pleasant journey through the hills of northern Maine. Right off the coast is the Sow, the
largest whirlpool in the western hemisphere. The Sow has several piglets (smaller
whirlpools) around it. Peg met a neat family who were also looking for the Big
Sow. Greg & Debbie Walker and their children, Russel and Allison. Greg has
taken a year leave of absence from his job in Manasses, VA to tour the country and show the kids this great country of ours. We look forward to connecting with them again down the road. We are staying in the
Seaview Campground, a classy Big Sam campground. It has all the amenities including
a restaurant that serves fantastic blueberry pancakes! They not only are plate size they are actually blue because they have
so many blueberries in them. We are taking lots of pictures need to get
a CD burner put on the laptop so that we can move the pictures off of the hard drive and free up some room. Another expense will be to enlarge the storage area for pictures inside the camera. Before too long, we intend to improve our brakes, also. Had
clam chowder last night great! This is a big lobster area, of course, and we
saw a lobster boat come in and unload while we were having our dinner. .I want
to have at least one lobster dinner before leaving Maine. Still dont have access to Sprint so that we can get on the web from
our RV, but they have a pay phone by the office. I have a lot to do to update
the website to make it more user-friendly. We will be here for a week, mostly
relaxing and healing our ailing legs. Went on a whale watch on the schooner Sylvina
W. Beal on Wednesday.
Millinocket, Maine
8/20/03. We did some touring of
the area as well as relaxing. There is a big mountain here Mount Katahdin about
which we heard in Presque Isle on Public TV. It has very picturesque scenery
around the mountain. The program prompted us to stop by here for this visit. We have seen a few moose (a single female at one time and a female and her child at
another no pictures, though, they didnt come out) and lots of whitewater - this is quite a big tourist area for kayakers,
rafters, and hikers.
Some rafters whose raft had turned upside down in a level 5 section that is
called the crypt. We are staying at Hidden Springs Campground; the owners Mike and Gail are very nice. They have a campfire most every night and a pool. They have
a dog Belle, a large Chesapeake Retriever who loves to chase tennis balls, especially when they are thrown into the pool.
My knee and Pegs leg are better, but not too much. We did some effort towards washing the RV while we were here, washing one side a dayno sense in overdoing. The toilet got stopped up a couple of times, which gives us some concern, hope it
doesnt keep happening. Also, the water heater was acting strangely, but seems
ok now. It has been cold here had to turn the heater on most nights our apologies
to those down south who are suffering in the 100s. We went yesterday to the library
to access the internet pay bills and download the credit card and bank statements. Also,
did the laundry while we were there. Going today to the Penobscot River to watch
the white water rafters come down the river. Should be fun! Glad Im not down there!! After we got back, we got some more
of the RV cleaned have a lot more to go. It is cool up here 40 degrees in the
night, up to 70 in the daytime.
Presque Isle, Maine
8/18. We crossed over from Canada
to the States at Van Buren, picked up our mail and went down to Presque Isle. Again,
we relaxed and stayed off of our feet-getting lots of reading done this way. Peg
found a brochure for the Knott-II-Bragg Farm while doing laundry. It is an herb farm and advertised a product that is especially
good for pain control, called the Old Log Drivers Arthritis Formula so we drove about 20 miles further out in the country
and had a wonderful time visiting with the owner, a woman whose great, great, great aunt first developed this product. Seems
she was a doctor in the 1800s but the men didnt like her doctoring so wouldnt
honor her prescriptions. So she studied with a Native American Shaman and learned all the herbal remedies the Indians had
used and developed her own prescriptions. Weve been using it the last week and it does stop the pain. Below, Peg is finding a good way of relaxing, I think you will agree.
Quebec Quebec Province Canada
8/14 Nothing much happened in Quebec.
We laid up at a the La Domaine Champetre Campground. Met Margo and Leopold
from Drummond, New Brunswick who own a potato farm there. We introduced them
to Smores around the fire one night. Mostly while there, we simply relaxed and
tried to heal our aching body parts. We did no touring at all, staying at home
and reading.
Montreal Quebec Province Canada
8/10 Now we are in Montreal we keep on moving onward! Here we are above the city.
We went on a Gray Line Tour all day Monday and enjoyed it a lot. The city is very photographic and interesting. Saw the Notre
Dame Basilica and lots of other buildings and statues. It has a large French
population, as does Quebec, our next destination city. My leg, ankle, and knee
have been hurting badly since we left Berrien Springs, MI. Went to the doctor
today and got some medicine that we hope will help. He gave us some anti-inflammatory
medicine for 10 days and told us to see another doctor if the situation was not improved.
Meanwhile, we are staying off our feet as much as possible. We stayed
at the Alouette Campground about 20 miles outside of the city.
Gananoque Ontario Canada
8/7 Visited the quaint village of Gananoque (pronounced ga (as in garage) nan
(as in gnat) no (as in no) que (as in quay) on the St. Lawrence River on the way from Niagara Falls to Montreal. Decided to stay an extra day when we discovered there was a festival here.
Saw a nice parade, the craft fair, a railroad museum, and went on a boat tour on the St. Lawrence River through the
myriad of islands in the St. Lawrence seaway.
We stayed in a fairly nice campground on the 1000 Islands Parkway the 1000
Islands Parkway Resort. (There are actually 1860 islands here, but whos counting?) Got lots of pictures and enjoyed the festivities.
Niagara Falls Ontario Canada
8/1 Arrived at Scotts Trailer Park about 2 pm.
Got set up and rested, met some neighbors who told us about the free parking lot and shuttle to the Casino right across
from the Falls. We left about 7pm went into the Casino had dinner, walked along the riverfront park and enjoyed seeing both
Falls directly across from us a great view! Watched the fireworks (5 minutes worth) at 10 pm and went home. They have fireworks
over the falls every night during the summer season and it is a grand sight even if it is not very long!
Sunday we went into Buffalo to the Unity Church and enjoyed meeting some wonderful
people and worshipping with them. Monday was a Canadian holiday but we took a chance that the Alexander Graham Bell museum
in Brantford would be open and it was. This is where he was living when we came up with the idea for the telephone and how
it would work. Within 3 years there was a telephone company in Brantford and it quickly spread so that within 10 years it
was everywhere. Reminded me of the way the fax machine spread in the early 90s.
Tuesday we rested but did go to the Oh Canada, Eh musical dinner show in the
evening. It featured many songs we knew but didnt know theyd been written by Canadians. Met a couple there from Memphis and
a Canadian couple celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary! Also met another Escapee Joei Hassock at the campground.
Had a good visit with her and bought her book about her trip to Alaska. She has a humorous writing style that is very enjoyable.
Besides if we go there next year as we are planning well be better prepared.
Wednesday was the big tourist day. We saw the IMAX movie about the falls then
did the Maid of the Mist tour. It was wonderful and the best thing we did all week. If you can only do one thing while in
Niagara Falls, I recommend that trip. To be that close to the Falls is awesome!!! Then we followed the river downstream and
drove to the Whirlpool area about 7 miles down. Watching the water coming down off the rapids and entering this area so fast
it cant make the right turn so it loops around to the left and then goes under the faster moving water coming in from the
rapids forming a large whirlpool area, though not a tight circular whirlpool as I thought it would be. This did answer a question
Id (Peg) had since 1979 when I flew over the falls in a small private plane on the way to a conference and couldnt figure
out where the river went! It seemed to just stop. At the angle we were flying I couldnt see how it made the sharp turn to
the right.
Went to a great Indian Museum where they had the stockade reproduced. The archeologist was there digging, looking for artifacts.
Ann Arbor, MI
7/26 Stayed in the Brighton Recreation Area state park near Ann Arbor. Had
a nice campsite right next to a small lake. We visited a Course in Miracles group and went to a large Unity church in Detroit
that was mostly African-American and who gave us a very warm welcome.
Berrien Springs, MI
7/18 Holiday Ramblers 50th Anniversary Rally. Over 1400 rigs parked in the Fairgrounds made for a small city! We parked with the 400 club and were able
to continue the friendships started at the pre-rally. Pegs leg was getting worse, she went from limping to using her crutches
to being pushed in a wheelchair that the First Aid team leaders, Glen & Flower McMillan, made available. It was a big
disappoint to her that she couldnt work on the First Aid team as shed planned but she was able to get her First Aid certification
renewed. She went to a chiropractor and that helped some but it seems shes probably dealing with an inflamed tendon and that
means REST! Hard to do when at a Rally and so much is going on. Spent time pushing
Peg around in the wheel chair hurt my knee. My shin and ankle also got injured.
One nice thing that happens at a rally is that the guys from the factory are
there to do repair work as needed. We had several repairs done and also got the back window of the RV tinted, the carpets
cleaned and the awning rewound.
Elkhart, IN
7/10 Pre-rally with Holiday Ramblers 400 Club.
Stayed in Elkhart Campground. Went to the Studebaker museum fabulous old cars built by the Studebaker company. Went to the RV museum which displayed old RVs.
We were in the midst of the Amish country. Lots of bearded gentlemen driving
buggies along the highways. Ate dinner at a genuine Amish home family style. Very good! Went to the Bonneyville Grain Mill. The Amish arent allowed electricity
or automobiles, but the Mennonites have an easier life. On the corner in Amish
neighborhoods, there is a small house which has answering machines for the people on that street. They have to come down in their buggies or on bicycles to get their messages. Ate dinner at the Tippecano Restaurant which had 30-40 rooms, a lot of them either serving lunch or set
up to serve. One room downstairs was lined with leather.
Chicago, ILL
7/7 Stayed at Indiana Dunes State Park.
Went to Church on Sunday in Chicago at the Christ Universal Temple with Johnnie Coleman. They had a church meeting that Sunday, announcing that they had sold their school to the City of Chicago
and were therefore able to pay off all their debts. Great metaphysical bookstore!
Chicago, ILL
7/3 Stayed at Hideaway Lakes Campground southeast of Chicago. Terrible road going in and out. Not a very good campground. Very wet and slippery grass. Back hoe
pulled us out when we got stuck trying to leave. Peg hurt her leg, thinks it is tendonitis. Saw the Sears Tower, the Aquarium,
and the Planetarium.
Veedersburg, IN
6/29 Morris reunion. Parked in
front of Judy and Tom Booes home. Had a great time with brother Dave, Claire,
cousin Judy and Tom, cousin Helen and Charlie, cousin Sue Ann and her daughter Denise, cousin Kitzie and Steve and Judys family.
Evansville, IN
6/23 Stayed at Audubon State Park in Kentucky and visited Helen and Charlie
in Newburg, IN across the Ohio River. Fourth of July parade in Evansville, IN. Visited the Audubon museum and nature center.
The Thunder on the Ohio (fast boats on the Ohio River) was there that weekend, but the parade and having to leave early
for the reunion in Veedersburg preempted that.
St. Louis, MO
6/11 Stayed in Bill Thomas RV Sales lot and then moved to Dardene Lakes Campground. Visited with Karen and Bryan, Betty and Paul , Linda and Perry. Soul Esteem Center. Went to financial planner, chiropractor,
and went to a Mitzi McDonald concert in the park. Got Mitzi to sit down with
us and a map on the places to go in Cape Breton.
Springfield, MO
6/8 Got chip reprogrammed, adding 60 HP and 100 ft/lbs of torque, K&N air
filter. Increased mpg by 2-3.
Branson, MO
6/8 Stayed in Turkey Creek RV Park in Holister, MO an escapees park. Saw quite a few shows and enjoyed them. Took a ride on the
amphibian army vehicles called Ducks on the lake.
Pryor, OK
6/7 Stayed in Green City Mobile Home and RV Park. This was supposed to be a regular park, but was really a mobile home park.
Not very comfortable.
Dallas, TX
6/6 Stayed in the Holiday World Dealer yard in Mesquite. Got them to work on the RV sewer and leak in refrigerator. Left it there while we went down to OHI.
Austin, TX
5/11 Optimum Health Institute. Two
weeks of de-toxing and dieting and exercise. Nothing but raw, organic vegetables. Two days each week there was nothing but juice all day. There was lots of wheat grass, also. Lost 18 lbs and Peg lost
12. Great group of guys there Karla and Kim went to church with us. Karla rode back to Mesquite with us. Lorenzo and I went to
an antique car show while there many, many old cars in beautiful condition.
Dallas, TX
5/9 Sherry had broken her wrist and we stayed in her apartment for a couple
of days while visiting in Dallas with the kids and Sherry. Got the dent in the
side of the truck fixed by a neighbor of Steves. Went to Chris graduation from
HS. I was ordained by Rev Kay in her Carrollton Church.
Clarksville, TX
5/8 Stayed in back parking lot at Charlies funeral home while with visited
with Sarah, Charlie and family.
Brinkley, AR
5/7 Stayed at Super 8 campground, just a quick stop on the way. Mary and Gordon from the rally caught up with us there.
Holiday Rambler 400 Club Natchez Trace Rally
Saw lots of Indian mounds and historic monuments along the Trace, stopping
along the way at historic markers with the other rigs (at least as many as could park there).
At one spot, there was a tame deer there begging food from the tourists. You
could see the old trace at places along the road, worn down low by all the people and wagons that had been there. There was a Red Hat celebration by the women
on one day (ask Peg about that). We saw a horse show and lots of other stuff.
Dickson, TN
5/4 End of Natchez Trace Rally with Holiday Rambler 400 Club. Dickson County Fairgrounds. Terrific thunderstorms throughout
the area with tornados. Had a tornado warning in the middle of the night all
50 of us with dogs, cats and canary in the block restrooms for a couple of hours. Had
fun.
Tupelo, MS
5/1 Stopped at Ag Center. Visited
Presleys place of birth. Carl from Maine sat down with us with a map and showed
us all the good places to go in Maine and where to stay.

Not much happening in Vaiden. Played cards and games.
Vicksburg, MS
4/25 2nd stop on Natchez Trace Rally. Nice people Ellen and Cosmo, Ewing and Elaine. Cards and games
and going out to eat with the gang. Went to the Vicksburg battlefield for a while.

Ate out with the others in the rally. Played Wizards card game.
Jackson, MS
4/22 Stayed in Roosevelt State Park in Bienville National Forest east of Jackson
just a stop on the way, but it was so nice that we stayed an extra day.
Birmingham, AL
4/16 Stayed at Oak Point State Park, Pelham, AL. Saw Ken and Beth Vaudo, Barbie, Blair and Patrick. Also, Cousin
Cindy Blackstone, her husband Mike and daughters Katy and Ruth and son David (Buddy)

Finally the wrecker got there and linked on to the truck with one cable and to the axle of the trailer with the other
and told me to back out of the ditch. It was easy, but scary. Dented side of truck a little where the trailer was leaning on it.
Met Frank and Jane Johnson there and spent some time visiting. The police
officer told me after it was over that he should give me a ticket, but if I didnt want him to, he wouldnt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
